Soccer season is in full blow

Well here it is soccer season yet again and I am busy beyond belief. We have practices most days and when we are not practicing we are traveling to go play. We have played six games so far in our season and have 67 goals to our credit, with none against and six wins. Our scores in order are 12-0, 16-0, 11-0, 11-0, 15-0 and 2-1. Now I know you might think that we are just killing them, but let me assure you that we have played the very easy part of our schedule. I, as the coach, hate to blow teams out. During the first three games our goalie touched the ball a total of three times. We have really gotten better over the past couple of years and am anxious to see how far we can go. My first year here we scored a total of I think eight goals. We went 4-4-4 that year. Now we have a group of girls that have played together for several years and are ready to take home the championship. That being said, we are also trying to make sure we are showing Christ’s love out on the field. Our girls are telling the other team good job or great pass or great save, and the other team looks at them confused. It's almost like they expect us to rub their noses in the beating that they are taking but both teams come away from the game with a very positive experience. I have 14 players ranging from 7th to 12 grade. I have three 7th graders who are really scared to get on the field and learn the game so far. Because our league is rather small they have to go up against 12th graders. So imagine a 12 year old playing soccer against an 18 year old, I can understand their fear. But they are doing well in their learning process.

Along with this time we have been doing Cup Stacking in pe. I have a couple pictures to show you of them doing it. If you really want to see some speed go watch a girl by the name of Emily Fox. All you have to do is type in her name and click on video and she should come up. The can go through the cycle in 7.43 seconds. My students are not that fast yet, but the are getting there. I have a fourth grader who is at 14.00 seconds and she is getting faster every day. Some may not believe that this does any good for the students, but if you were here to see it in person I think you would change your mind. I have had other teachers that think they are joking around in the lunch room when they put a few cups in a pyramid. But then I brought little Samantha in and all of their mouths dropped. This sport uses both sides of your brain and body. You have to remember what comes next and do it. It also works on hand eye coordination. I'll have to show you some pictures of this later the dumb computer isn't letting me upload anything right now. So just be patient and you will see them later I guess. I better go classes are about to hit third period which is my high school pe class.

Later on...peace out
